Jeffrey L. Hawkins is Of Counsel in the New York City office. He focuses his practice defending catastrophic injuries on behalf of building owners, contractors, and manufacturers against high exposure personal injury and property damage lawsuits, including construction accidents, environmental and lead poisoning, premises liability, asbestos, and labor law. His general litigation practice involves cases from inception through trial. Jeff has obtained verdicts or dismissals in numerous cases, whether through oral argument on summary judgment motions or at trial.
Jeff also defends physicians, hospitals, and other healthcare providers against high exposure medical malpractice claims. Cases he has successfully defended involve a full range of claims, from newborn brain damage and quadriplegia, to wrongful death. Jeff is involved in all stages of litigation from inception through trial, and has represented physicians practicing in a variety of medical specialties, including gastroenterology, obstetrics and gynecology, cardiology, pathology, oncology, neurosurgery, pediatrics, and infectious disease. He also regularly defends emergency room physicians and staff.
Jeff also has significant experience in entertainment law, business transactions, commercial litigation, nursing home and long-term care facility litigation, and products liability.
Jeff is admitted to practice in New York State courts, and New York and Connecticut federal courts. He is a member of the New York State Bar Association, the New York County Lawyers Association, as well as the New York State Trial Lawyers Association and the New York City Trial Lawyers Association.
