• New York Claim Association honors Phil McManus

The New York Claim Association, Inc. (NYCA) honored Senior Partner Phil McManus at its 2012 Annual Holiday Dinner Gala on December 8.

Mr. McManus' family, friends and many longtime colleagues were among the 265 in attendance at the event, held at The Harvard Club in Manhattan.

William J. Fishlinger, CEO of WRM America Holdings, presented Mr. McManus with the NYCA's Award of Excellence, in recognition of outstanding service to the insurance industry. Mr. McManus and co-honoree Douglas J. Hayden, Executive Vice President of Wright Insurance Group, were unanimously chosen for the distinction by the NYCA Executive Officers and Board of Directors.

In accepting the award, Mr. McManus congratulated Mr. Hayden and thanked several people who have been instrumental in his career. After harkening back to his early days in insurance, he went on to laud today's claims professionals for having the versatility and expertise to navigate an ever-increasingly complex field.

"Over the years, it has been my privilege to work with so many great claims people, most of whom I consider friends for life," said McManus. "It is a proud and honorable profession, and I am humbled and grateful to receive this award."

Established in 1914, the NYCA is an organization dedicated to the advancement of education and ethics in the field of New York claims management, with a concentration in the areas of workers' compensation and no-fault insurance. Membership consists of insurance carriers, self-insureds, third-party administrators, risk managers, attorneys and health care providers.
